Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of large-scale manufacturing for an innovative locally engineered defensive UAV to enhance its aerial protection systems. Three initial manufacturers have started production, with an additional eleven getting ready to establish assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials stated this past Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Tested in Combat Conditions

These UAVs will be based on a domestically developed technology called “Octopus” engineered to neutralize Iranian-made drones. This technology has been tested in actual battle and demonstrated successful “during nighttime, amid electronic warfare and at low altitudes,” officials stated. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of manufacturing up to 1,000 defensive drones each day.

Recent Attack on the Capital Characterized as Deliberate

The Ukrainian president characterized Russia’s latest attack on Ukraine as “intentional, premeditated and brutal” after six people were killed and many others wounded in a wave of night-time strikes across Kyiv. Alert systems activated in the capital shortly after 12 AM this past Friday, with enemy UAVs soon heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

Kyiv's Strikes Target Moscow's Oil Facilities

Moscow's maritime terminal of the port city temporarily suspended oil exports on Friday – representing 2% of worldwide oil production – following a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Ukraine’s general staff said its forces had fired domestically produced missiles and deployed various types of attack UAVs in the assault against Novorossiysk “within the framework of efforts to reduce the military and economic potential of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukraine additionally targeted a processing plant in the Saratov area and an energy depot in the adjacent Engels region during the night.

Global Sanctions Impact Russian Energy Company
