Vince Zampella, the mind behind the wildly popular video game Call of Duty, has died in a traffic collision in the state of California aged 55.

The tragic news was verified by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the video game company that he helped create.

The renowned video game developer passed away following his car crashed and caught fire on a freeway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday morning, as reported by.

"This represents a heartbreaking loss, and our deepest sympathies go to Vince's loved ones, his loved ones, and all those touched by his legacy," a representative from Electronic Arts stated.
