Ex- Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have stated that a ex- physician stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
