AC Shadows Reveals Unexpected AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a unexpected collaboration that breaks usual expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Disclosed
According to the authorized announcement, "A mysterious confrontation leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where whispers of prohibited practices and terrifying metamorphoses reverberate through the shadows." The storyline features a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a hidden group.
The mission focuses on "peculiar trials and a terrifying enemy" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Changes
The trailer highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer ends with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Additional Features
Players who finish the mission will acquire an unique katana alongside several objects secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique arms
- Survey Corps mount
Newest Free Story Update
This patch also brings the game's third no-cost story episode, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature skills: Naoe reveals a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime franchises. The series previously included a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla unofficially included a quest that clearly nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
